Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan-Claire Mayfield. This is day three hundred and forty of that project.

This quilt block shows a large brown gate against a blue salmon-patternd background. The gate has two posts on on either side of it. The gate itself is a rectangle frame with an x through it with two extra bars. Below the left side of the gate is a block to prop the end of the gate on to keep it form sagging. There is a chain and hinges drawn on the brown fabric in pen.

This looks to me like the BIG gate that goes to the corral, paddock, barn, or field.

The one you open to take everybody through or let the truck and trailer through.

Where this gate is doesn’t hold any small stock, only cows or horses. At my house, there is always a block at the bottom of the post where the gate closes to set the gate on so it doesn’t sag.

This looks like a sturdy gate and one I would have liked to swing on when I was a girl until I got caught and scolded for “trying to make that gate sag!”
