She made a big splash designing for a pop star that she went to elementary school with. The celebrity wore it to some premier and BAM she was a hot property! Mimi had a really busy decade, working tirelessly and making a fortune. She was smart and socked it all away. She had plans for a second career.
Everywhere you look is another bin or basket filled with skeins of beautiful fibers and Notions. Towards the back is a sitting area around a small antique potbellied stove with overstuffed chairs and small tables to sit, knit, and have a cup of something hot.
The unique feature in this block is the flower sculptures. The blooms are huge! Beautiful enameled copper welded by a local artist.
The parents of the party guests thought this was great, however, the party guests themselves were less than enthusiastic. Actually, there were some tears. The birthday boy had a good time and of course, there were treats as well.
A few years ago my children bought me a Kindle. My thumbs were starting to ache to hold the books open (sewist’s thumb). I thought it was very thoughtful but wondered how much I’d use it. Oh my goodness, I am on the fourth one having worn out the first three.
The Bailey Building & Loan has been in existence for generations, ever since George stayed and took over the bank when his father passed away. It’s Pete’s daughter, George’s granddaughter, Meg that runs the Bailey Building & Loan now. It’s grown and so has George and Mary’s family.
I know an office in our area where the windows look much like this building: full of pictures of houses for sale and rent. As I’m sure most of you know we had a terrible fire in our area last October.
When I was a little girl we had a market called Strauchman’s. Two brothers from Denver owned it and they had an amazing butcher shop. And they had an amazing butcher named Ernie.
My father-in-law was a baker for Hostess back in the day when they made real baked goods. He was, in fact, on the bakery floor the day that the first Twinkie pans came in. He said they were wonderful back then: made with sponge cake and sweetened whipped cream. And of course, served fresh in the Hostess Bake Shops.
I have been in business for 5 years now and I love what I do. I have terrific people that work with me and wonderful customers. My little shop is my happy place.
