This quilt block is a corner block, meaning that it's oriented to one corner as the "bottom" of the block. This one is in the bottom right corner. There is a patch of dark green grass (fabric) in the bottom right, and standing on it is a pretty good sized fox. The fox is made up of a darker orange fabric and white fabric for its underbelly and tip of the tail. There is an almost black fabric for the foxglove paws. Details on the face, such as the ears and the eye have been drawn in with pen. This fox is in mid-step as it prowls for its prey.

They prefer to be solitary when they are not raising young. If you have a fox den very close to you, you will probably know because foxes are smelly! They are also very playful, they have been known to steal golf balls from golf courses to play with them.

This quilt block shows a llama standing from the side. The llama is pointing to the right. It has a stocky build, with thick legs and a thick neck. It's tall neck goes up to a head you might think was smiling. There is a dot for the eye and some penning in to indicate the ears. The llama is made up of one big piece of tan fabric with stitching and penning ot indicate the various contours of the body (such as the legs). This is all against a blue salmon-patterned background.

That gets everybody’s attention. She will then run toward the predator (usually canine, wild, or domestic) and will kick at it and put herself between the predator and her flock. She will be very aggressive.

This quilt block shows a stack of straw bales. The bales themselves are a very yellow orange fabric. Each bale is outlined by a very frilly leaf like stitch of very gold thread. There are four bales in a block, with one bale on top. There is another bale to the right leaning on the main pile of bales.

First thing you think of on the farm is animal bedding, and it’s definitely good for that. But, straw has a lot of uses, especially in the garden. It’s much better for mulching your flower beds for winter and summer because it doesn’t have the seeds hay has in it.

This quilt block is fairly simple. It's five plants of corn against a very light blue background. Each plant comes up from the bottom and stops at about the same height, midway up. Each plant has two leaves coming off of it except the left which has one. At the top of each piece of green fabric is a bulb that's covered in leaves. The texture of the corn plant is indicated by using parallel rows of yellow stitching up and down the corn.

Other fun facts- Corn is wild grass and the ear is part of the flower. There are 800 kernels in 16 rows on the average ear. While yellow is the most common color, corn also comes in blackish, blueish gray, purple, green, red, and white.

This quilt block shows a bird feeder hanging from a post against a blue background. The post is brown with a part jutting out that the feeder is hanging from. The post has a green vine made of green fabric and green stitching growing around and up the post. There is a yellow bird in the upper right flying. The feeder itself is red, like a hummingbird feeder, with polka dot pattern on it of another shade of red.

I recently bought a bird feeder for the Farmhands. It looks a little like the one on our block today. Farmhand 3 was particularly excited about it.

This quilt block shows three pointy green trees on a patch of grass against a gray background. The important part here though is that in the patch of grass is a blue pond area with three duck shaped (and colored) buttons with two holes each. They are so cute, and bright, with little red beaks all in a row.

I can tell you from experience that they have a lot to say to each other. Their house is outside my bedroom window and I swear they convene a meeting about midnight every day.

She was actually the Coroner for Grand County in 1904 and investigated many of the deaths associated with the construction of the Moffat tunnel. She tended to a range of patients and medical conditions including childbirth, skiing injuries, and particularly pneumonia during the 1918 flu pandemic.

Shopping for girl clothes is a novelty for our family. She’s 5 now and the clothes keep getting cuter. I only had sons and now I have 5 grandsons and her. She is a hoot. Quite the fashionista she may change her ensemble several times a day.

This quilt block shows three tall buildings with pointy roofs. The middle lighter one is two stories tall. They are labeld above the dark doors with the letters A, B, and C.

I found myself thinking that if people have to live very close together that might make them a little crazy. I tiptoed around and shushed my little ones all the time. It made me nervous.I knew I could hear everything my neighbors said and surely they could hear us. Now I live in a big house with my son, his wife, his mother-in-law, and four children under the age of 11.
