Juncos are actually ground foragers scrounging insects and weed seeds. They will come to a feeder, but you need to let them know where to look for it by sprinkling a few seeds on the ground.
One day when I was walking by I saw the most hideous creature I had ever seen (I swear I just had an involuntary shiver). On the end of a branch, about a foot off the ground was a horned tomato worm.
In the meantime, she’s pretty happy with living with this tree. Lots of food scurrying about to feed and entertain her. There is a little girl on the street that comes over at least once a day to pet her and give her little treats. She brings a water bottle and pours it into a dish so Smudge has a drink.
Mandy built it out of wood reclaimed from an old barn and the door came from an actual outhouse. It has electricity and a yellow light shines through the half moon. Inside the outhouse is fitted not with a one holer but with a frost free hydrant.
I didn’t know that just because you plant a seed from a macintosh apple doesn’t mean you will get a macintosh apple tree. Every tree, like people, is different.
This little square reminds me of the planters that were in front of my shop when I bought it 5 1/2 years ago. They were big square things that were waist high and about 24″ square.
First, my mother in law has a garden gate that she’s had for a long time that is mounted in her garden area that has no fence to go with it. Never has. It’s whimsical and I love her the more for it.
When the littlest was digging down he could get where we could only see the bottom half of him sticking out. A garden hose was always on hand with an on/off so they could have lakes, moats and floods.
I recently bought a bird feeder for the Farmhands. It looks a little like the one on our block today. Farmhand 3 was particularly excited about it.
