Garden Gate - Tina's Fabric Nook

This block shows a metal gate with metal slats across it against a blue background. The gate itself has a little latch top open and close it. Each slat is gray and outlined with a light stitching. She can go into her garden in her big hat and gloves with a harvest basket and harvest the vegetables for her family’s table in solitude or with a small helper or two.

This quilt block shows a large wooden door with a big metal ring as a door handle. The door is actually a gate, and is framed by a much darker brown outline of fabric. Next to the door are fence posts that decrease in height as they move towards the edge of the block. There is a green vine made of dark green fabric and green stitching that travels up the post and dangles over the top of the door. The gate or door itself is a light brown with multicolored threading indicating the slats of the wood. This is against a blue salmon-patterned background fabric.

First, my mother in law has a garden gate that she’s had for a long time that is mounted in her garden area that has no fence to go with it. Never has. It’s whimsical and I love her the more for it.
