Grain - Tina's Fabric Nook

This quilt block shows a tall orange building with a roundish roof. It looks like a big barn on a farm. There are three entry doors on the bottom, all made out of deep red pieces of fabric. There are three windows, each above one entrance. In the left window you can see the black silhouette of a mouse, and in the far right window you can see the silhouette of a cat's head. The roof is the same deep red as the doors.

This is the barn the grain is stored in, complete with cat and mouse. Inside the barn are pallets that have feed sacks stacked and wrapped in plastic. This farmer buys his grains quarterly so he has to store a lot at a time. Good thing he has cats.

This quilt block shows a hen house against a blue salmon-patterned background. The hen house is up off the ground, held up by a light brown arch. The front of the hen house is green, and the ladder/stair going up into the house is a dark green. Inside the hen house, on the black arch of the entrance is a white chicken made of white fabric. There is a red markings for the head. The stitching outlining each part of the hen house is a golden yellow color.

A trip into town for flour, sugar, and coffee and they will want for very little. A sound I always enjoyed when I had a backyard flock was the pleasant clucking of the hens as they “hunt a little, scratch a little, peck a little” about the farmyard.
